The Work of Arts Workers in Healthcare

Key Terms: arts and health; community; arts & cultural workers; health; relational

Lead: Julia Gray

About the Project

The project aims to better understand the ways arts workers themselves value, understand/conceptualize, and enact their work in health settings, as well as how the health institutions and workers from other disciplines and professional practices also conceptualize and value these arts workers and their work.  This project is situated as part of new understandings of the importance of community-strengthening and relational practices as part of supporting the health of individuals and their communities beyond biomedicine, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FLOURISH Collective is supported in part by funding from the New Frontiers in Research Fund,
the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the University of Toronto Connaught Fund
